Chesapeake Harmony Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, is a dynamic group of women who come together to sing, perform, and enjoy each other's company. Our members, spanning all ages and backgrounds, share a passion for music and harmony. Based in Severna Park, our members are from Annapolis, Crownsville, Glen Burnie, and nearby areas, we gather regularly to rehearse, entertain, and have fun.
Performance
Chesapeake Harmony Chorus loves bringing music to the community! We perform at fairs, festivals, community gatherings, assisted living homes, and more. Our Singing Valentines, available in person or by phone, make for a special and memorable gift. We’re also available to perform at your next event—whether it's a corporate function, private party, or holiday celebration. It’s never too early to book us for December festivities! For a unique and lively musical experience, visit our Hire Us page to learn more.
Education
In addition to sharing our love of music, Chesapeake Harmony Chorus is passionate about learning and educating others about the art of a cappella singing in the barbershop style—an original American art form! Under the expert guidance of our director, Mary Beth Whisman, vocal instruction is a key part of our rehearsals, helping members refine their skills and enhance their performance. With the support of her dedicated Music Team, Mary Beth ensures that every rehearsal is both educational and inspiring.
The Music Team consists of Section leaders and the Director. The section leaders help their sections learn through positive feedback.
Group Coaching/Training Sessions
Several times during the year, we will get coaching from outside Directors who will teach us additional, fabulous tricks of the trade.
COMPETITON
In the Spring of every year, Chesapeake Harmony Chorus participates in the Region 19 chorus competition. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the Fall. The city varies, but the sound is always awesome.
